Truck Dispatcher Job DescriptionWe are looking for a motivated Trucking Dispatcher who will be responsible for overseeing the scheduling and dispatching of our fleet of trucks. In this position, you will work closely with drivers, customers, and other team members to ensure timely delivery of goods. You will also be expected to maintain accurate records, monitor driver performance, and resolve any issues that may arise during the transportation process. Candidate must have good communication, interpersonal skills and organizational skills. Ideal candidates will be reliable, flexible, critical-thinking problem solvers.Duties and ResponsibilitiesCoordinating the schedules of truck drivers, including pickups and deliveriesCommunicate with drivers to ensure they have the necessary information and resources to complete their routesEnsure compliance with all safety regulations and company policiesMaintain accurate records of shipments and deliveriesManage and oversee a team of drivers and logistics personnelContinuously evaluate and improve logistics processes to increase efficiency and productivityAnswering calls from drivers, shippers, and brokers, and keeping them informed of delivery times and road conditionsTroubleshooting issues that may arise while drivers are on the roadMonitors availability and maintain schedules concerning all aspects of trucking operationsUse computers, phone and other technological devices with easeAttend weekly staff meetingsDetermine types and number of trucks needed for all projectsOrders and maintains needed truck suppliesCoordinate and facilitate resources on a daily basis to meet work scheduleBe comfortable in a construction environmentAssist transportation manager with supervision of transportation department employeesComplete other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or managementRequirements and QualificationsLearn and follow all safety regulations.Be familiar with DOT regulations.High school diploma or equivalentMinimum of 2 years experience in dispatching trucksExcellent communication and organizational skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of transportation regulations and lawsProficient in computer software such as Microsoft Office and transportation management systemsStrong problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAttention to detailFlexibility to work long hours and weekendsAbility to handle stressful situations and make quick decisionsKnowledge of geography and routesDriver license requiredSome travel may be required.All applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.Pre-employment checks include reference checks and drug testing and DMV records (as needed).
